do us all a favor

this is dedicated to a person who shall remain nameless ... we were six people in a room ... and i can guarantee you that this is what all five of us felt like telling him ... all together at the same time ... too bad we couldn't ...

the project

as i mentioned in an earlier post ... we are in the midst of launching our WMS ... here's what the past few workdays looked like ...
thursday ... from 7:30 am until about 7 or 8 pm i can't remember ...
friday ... from about 2 pm until around midnight ...
saturday ... from 7:30 am until about 4 am in the morning ... that's right ... 4 am ...
yesterday ... from 7:30 am until 8:00 pm ...
today we went home on time ... we finally finished ...
and thank God it was successful ... it actually got off to a bad start and things looked doubtful for a while ... some people raised the possibility of scrapping the whole thing and relaunching in a month ... but we did it ...
needless to say ...
i'm exhausted ...

song of the day

this song is at least ten years old ... i remember it was on the same album as semi-charmed life ... that was a great album ...

diary of a disgruntled employee

i work six days a week ... although thursday is a half day ... but this week there is no weekend because it's the launch of our new WMS ... that stands for warehouse management system ... which is really just a fancy word for computer software that deals with warehouse management ... it is the same one we had at my previous company ... anyway so it's kind of a big deal ... a huge deal really ... the group logistics manager is here from dubai ... as well as the group IT manager ... there's also this IT guy who is british ... i like him ... he's short and pudgy and bald but he has this british wit that i find endearing ... anyway i don't have to tell you everyone who is part of the project but my point is it's a big deal ... so anyway ... we are currently in the process of launching ... today was day 1 ... normally on thursdays we work half days like i said at the beginning ... but today was more than a full day ... it was twelve hours of non-stop work ... yesterday was also twelve hours ... and guess what ... we have to come in friday ... oh joy ... we're going to start at two and i think we're going to stay until midnight ... so there goes the weekend ... oh well ... it's for a good cause right ... not really ... oh and king abdullah is scheduled to come back on saturday ... he'd been on medical leave for quite some time ... anyway the government is going to get the day off on that day ... we won't ... but that's life ... anyway i'm truly exhausted ... this has been a long week ... and i can't wait for it to end ... oh right it did ... no weekend ... looking forward to another week of work ... not ...

if i didn't know any better i would have thought that this is a description of a bizarre acid trip that someone had ...

*********

At times the camera panned back to show the outside of the building and its towering monument of a gold-colored fist crushing an American fighter jet. But the view also gave a surreal image of Gadhafi, shouting and waving his arms wildly all alone in a broken-down lobby with no audience, surrounded by torn tiles dangling from the ceiling, shattered concrete pillars and bare plumbing pipes.

"Libya wants glory, Libya wants to be at the pinnacle, at the pinnacle of the world," he proclaimed, pounding his fist on the podium. "I am a fighter, a revolutionary from tents ... I will die as a martyr at the end," he said, vowing to fight "to my last drop of blood."

Gadhafi depicted the protesters as misguided youths, who had been given drugs and money by a "small, sick group" to attack police and government buildings. He said the uprising was fomented by "bearded men" — a reference to Islamic fundamentalists — and Libyans living abroad. He called on supporters to take to the streets to attack protesters.

"You men and women who love Gadhafi ... get out of your homes and fill the streets," he said. "Leave your homes and attack them in their lairs."

"The police cordons will be lifted, go out and fight them," he said, urging youth to form local committees across the country "for the defense of the revolution and the defense of Gadhafi."

"Forward, forward, forward!" he barked at the speech's conclusion, pumping both fists in the air as he stormed away from the podium. He was kissed by about a dozen supporters, some in security force uniforms. Then he climbed into a golf cart-like vehicle and puttered away.

prison blues

sitting in a cell
while the warden stands guard
staring out of the window
at my house
across the street

unblocking the past

sitting at choices
talking about choices
it was ramadan
she sprayed cologne on her wrists
her hair looked beautiful
we had a nice talk
i was such a fool back then
but i digress
what was i talking about
ah yes
choices
we narrowed it down to two
the fun bad
and the peace of mind
rare wisdom from such a shallow person
such a fool

song of the day

something i read today reminded me of this song .. it's a nice blast from the past ...

looking back on the day

today was truly a hectic day at work ... busy busy busy ... we had a chanel order that had to ship to riyadh today ... there is some kind of new launch happening and we had to ship all this store display material there ... it was my responsibility to make sure that the order got sent ... we already started preparing it yesterday but we didn't finish ... so we had to finish today ... so from 7:30 am until 4:15 pm i was running around making sure the job got done ... phew ... also this other department was up my ass about this other order which wasn't as important as the riyadh one ... but they felt it was ... but who cares what they think ... so anyway ... it was exhausting ... but we got the job done and the order shipped on time and everything worked out ... so let's hear a round of applause for the supervisor ... takes a bow ... so that was my day at work basically ... if i had to summarize it in two words i would say chanel order ... obviously the only reason i told you the story is so i could have an excuse for posting a picture of the beautiful blake lively ... no it wasn't ...

have you ever felt truly disgusted ... i mean genuinely disgusted by something ... and have to endure it ... like there's no escaping it ... say like a disgusting plane trip ... anyway ... i had an experience like that today ... i won't tell you what it was because i don't want to disgust you ... but suffice to say it put me in a state of complete and utter disgust ... and i learned something about myself in that moment ... that i become extremely hostile when i am disgusted ... i damn near bit the guy's head off ... but i'll never go back there again ...

have you ever had a conversation with yourself in the mirror when you're alone in an elevator ... yes you have ... i had such a conversation with myself today ... it was rather short ... i only said one sentence ... you're so hot ...

window reflections

it glows with every breath
a bright orange flame
he exhales the smoke
clouds of happiness
making him feel more alive
while bringing him closer to death

the general's daughter

a simple card ... a gift ... and some cake ...
that was all it took ...
to leave an eternal mark on the wall ...
to bring light into an otherwise dark place ...
to turn black into white ...
but alas ...
society can be truly cruel sometimes ...

حسبي الله و نعم الوكيل

well there was a chance my car would be ready today but apparently it needs at least another two days ... tanheedeh ...

i'm just saying

i was having dinner with soon to be ex-boss and current acting boss and a client representative ... it wasn't like a business meeting .. very casual .. we had albaik at work .. lol .. anyway .. so they got to talking about egypt and i said look what they did was awesome and mubarak deserved to go but ok they removed mubarak now what .. i mean the army is in control and the egyptian army shares very close ties with the americans .. soooooo?

here is another poem i wrote ... i call it inside the sunshine ...

a banging noise
or is it a rattling noise
perhaps both
two becoming one
fulfilling the dream

poor baby

my car is almost back ... i got the call that it was ready on tuesday ... went with my friend to go see it ... it was running now ... the engine had been replaced ... however ... the windshield was still broken ... the car was still very much wet and now there were mosquitoes living inside ... also there were some electrical problems ... not so bad that you couldn't drive it ... but so bad that you shouldn't drive it ... anyway so i paid the guy and left ... funny story about the shop where i got the engine replaced ... the man who manages the place goes by abu hassan ... as does my dad ... so i like to think that was a good omen ... it was fate ... a sign ... no coincidence ... but i digress ... anyway i drove it for less than a kilometer then decided to park because i wasn't comfortable driving it in this condition ... called my friend who was driving ahead of me and told him to pull over ... we agreed to call a tow truck to take it to the electrician instead of driving it there ... it was late so we called him the next morning ... the electrician said it needed some parts ... lovely ... anyway he fixed it ... now it's at the cleaners ... it will be there for another three days ... yes it needs that much cleaning ... then it's back to the electrician ... for some final touches ... and then it's mine ... i plan on taking it to a mechanic once it's ready for a full check just to make sure everything has been taken care of ... then it will be just like old days ... me and my car back together ... but once the rush of being reunited with my precious baby wears off ... then it's merely a countdown to the day i sell it ... which i'm guessing will occur within the year ... and then i buy a brand new one ... i've already started thinking of what i might get ... the new hyundais are pretty slick ... maybe it's time to go japanese ... we will see ...

the leadership of egypt's national party all resigned ... which is great but there is a slight problem ... mubarak is still president ... the leadership posed together for a group photo after announcing the resignation ... it was an emotional moment as this could be the last time they ever see each other as each one of them prepares to flee the country ... aljazeera was able to obtain said photo ... click here to see it ...

tales from the automobile

well i turned in the rental car yesterday ... it was the last day on the lease ... hated it ... don't miss it at all ... though i'm without a car now so that kind of sucks ... still i hated that car ... so weak ...
i dropped my car off at the shop on wednesday ... finally replacing the engine ... my car was half flooded in the rains ... it wasn't even working at the time ... the engine got busted in the first rain ... so anyway yeah a lot of water got inside ... to give you an idea just how much ... you know the compartment between the driver seat and the passenger seat ... there was water inside the fricking thing ... also the windshield is broken ... apparently got hit by a rock or something ... perfect ... man it was such a sad sight when we towed it ... we couldn't even load it on the flatbed ... so we got a winch to just tow it ... so there was my car being dragged across jeddah at a 45 degree angle ... heartbreaking i tell you ... so yeah after the engine gets replaced and it's running again ... i need to take it to the cleaners and also replace the windshield ... oh well ... the reason it took me so long to fix it is because there was a chance the insurance might pay for the repair ... but they requested a report from the civil defense ... which is VERY difficult to obtain ... which is why the insurance is insisting on getting it ... well played insurance dicks ... but yeah i was like fuck it i'll fix it myself ... how i miss it ... my carla ... i'm thinking of fixing it ... using it for the rest of the year ... then sell it around christmas time ... but we'll see ... anyway ... it sucks but a lot of people are suffering like me so that makes me feel a little better knowing i'm not alone ... one of my friends has a mini cooper the thing got totally submerged in water ... poor guy ... a lot of other people suffered similar fates ... i was told of one fellow who recently purchased a porsche cayenne and it got flooded inside ... terrible ... coincidentally thanks to facebook i also know that one of my "friends" who lives in dallas wrecked her car driving on an icy road ... so it seems to be world wide phenomenon ... anyway really looking forward to reuniting with my baby ... i dedicate this song to her ... my car that is ...

here is a nonsense poem i wrote ... well on the surface it's nonsense ... but it's actually really deep and thoughtful ...
i call it volcanoes in the dark ...

your aztec song calls my soul

the color of peanut butter
the creamy kind
i must cross the canyon
