sometimes an old school friend will add you on facebook ... you have not seen or talked to this person for more than a decade now and hadn't planned on it either .. but you accept because it's fun to rummage through their profile page .. see how their life turned out .. not that we give a crap .. mostly we just want to browse their photos ..
and sometimes someone from school - not a friend - just someone who was in your school will add you .. and it's like ok well we went to school together i guess i'll accept .. because once again it's fun to rummage through their profile page .. it really is ..
and sometimes .. and this happens very rarely but it happened today which inspired me to write this .. someone who didn't go to school with you .. who never even knew you per se .. they knew of you but never actually knew you .. like they were aware of your existence but there was never any actual contact between you .. for example you had mutual friends but they hung out with you separately .. or maybe you were both at the same party once .. someone like that will add you .. and that's when i feel it gets a little too weird .. it's like dude i never even knew you .. not even on a went to the same school basis .. and even when i did "know" you .. that was a decade ago .. so why are you adding me .. but again you accept .. why .. that's right .. also your friend count goes up one .. vanity's a bitch ..

got a call a couple of hours ago ... it was this guy who works for a consulting firm we deal with ... i knew he was coming ... just wasn't expecting the call ... i was like i don't think he's calling about a work question because it's awfully late for that ... anyway so he's like yeah i arrived and i'm checked in and i was just wondering how i would get to the site tomorrow ... and i was like mmm i'll pick you up ... how nice of me right ... i know ... actually any excuse for getting out of work is welcome ... even if it is picking up some dude from the hotel ... anyway ... so i know the dude's name and i know where he works ... but i'd never met him before ... so i was like hmmm ... and so i looked him up on facebook ... and i was able to find him ... and see his profile photos ... yes his privacy standards are very lax in that regard ... so he has a latuff cartoon about rafah ... that's cool ... i know he is a lakers fan ... so we both like basketball ... we both went to university in beirut ... though i'm aub he is lau ... so seems we have a lot in common ... if he were a girl he would be the one lol ... anyway all i'm saying is facebook is useful sometimes ...

guys who use photos of themselves and their sister as a profile picture .. what is that about .. i mean i just think it's potentially misleading in a very gross way .. i mean people who don't know it's your sister might get the wrong idea .. anyway i'm just saying ..

i noticed that some of my facebook "friends" have me on maximum privacy settings .. by that i mean if i view their page it's just as if we aren't friends .. i can't see their wall .. photos .. nothing .. but we are "friends" .. it's like hey mo .. your only purpose is to increase my friend count .. that's the extent of our friendship .. like there's this one girl .. but she's engaged now .. so i get it .. but still .. might as well unfriend me .. but it seems to be a trend .. like there's this other girl who now that she's married i can't write on her wall anymore .. i can read it i just can't write on it .. also i can't like anything she posts .. well if that's how it is then when i get married i'm just going to disappear from facebook altogether .. but first i think i'll announce my marriage so everyone can congratulate me .. then i'll disappear ..

i think they need to change the name from friends to something else ... i mean i have "friends" who i have not had a single interaction with until now .. by that i mean on facebook .. basically i added them or they added me and that was it .. some friendship ..

ramadan ranting

it is ramadan as you may have heard by now ... and some people think it is cool to post a ramadan greeting on facebook then tag all their friends on it ... then people start commenting on the greeting ... and facebook will send you an email saying "so and so has commented on a photo of you" ... first of all facebook this photo is not of me ... and second i have never met this person commenting on it so i don't give a shit what he has to say about it ... and so you go to the photo and remove the tag in order to stop receiving the notification emails ... normally such minor incidents would not annoy me ... but i haven't had a cigarette all day ...

a former coworker recently tagged me in a photo on facebook ... it is a group photo of us at the first company i worked at ... i was still a fresh graduate at the time ... that was three years ago ... i look at myself in the photo and i think damn i have gotten so much fatter since then ... now i knew this already ... but seeing those old photos really drives it home ...

a little payback

there is this guy ... maher is his name ... we worked together once upon a time ... back at my first job ... he was a fucker ... plain and simple ... i hated him he hated me and it wasn't really a big secret ... we had a shouting match once and things were never the same after that ... anyway ... i recently added a guy on facebook ... he also worked with me at the same job ... apparently maher noticed because he decided to add me the very next day ... my first reaction was to wonder why the hell is he adding me given our history ... then i hurled some obscenities at his profile picture which i cannot repeat here ... after doing that i got to work ... not only did i ignore his request ... i blocked him ... and i reported him as a spammer ... today evening i logged in and his profile is gone from facebook so looks like it worked ... or maybe when you block someone you can no longer see them ... either way ... i'm happy with the way i handled his request ...
