cars and nostalgia

so my car is in the shop ... going to be there for a while so i rented a car .. it has that new car smell because well it's a new car .. so now every time i drive it .. i come out smelling like new car .. which i consider an offensive odor .. so that sucks .. on the other hand .. i usually listen to my ipod when i drive .. i have one of those car kits where it's a cassette with a headphone jack coming out of it .. but the car i'm renting doesn't have a cassette deck .. it only has a cd player .. so i got out my cd folder .. more like dug it out .. oh the dust on that thing .. anyway as i looked through the museum that is my ancient cd collection .. god when was the last time i bought a cd .. anyway .. so i'm looking through the folder and i find all these mix cd's i made back in college .. i was like sweet let's listen to this shit .. i've listened to about three of them so far .. wonderful memories .. also a lot of love songs .. i had such passion back then .. now i'm dead inside ..

ghosts from the past

i stayed in the aub dorms for my freshman year .. two semesters that is .. i had a different roommate each semester .. my first roommate was an older guy .. we never really talked .. mostly i just slept in the room and that was it .. the next semester my roommate was a newcomer .. a freshman like me .. here's why i bring it up .. the second roommate and my brother have a mutual friend .. and they recently met .. he told him that we didn't get along as roommates .. that's an understatement .. truth be told i was a terrible roommate .. so i don't blame him for saying that .. i wonder what else he told him ..

McDonalds became the latest target of the boycott campaign against pro-Israeli businesses Tuesday when a couple of dozen activists representing the Union of Lebanese Democratic Youth (ULDY) picketed outside the fast-food chain's Hamra location across from the American University of Beirut (AUB).
Several police officers quietly observed as the store's manager came out to confront the protesters but, outnumbered and facing a deeply passionate crowd, soon retreated.
"I always had this guilt like we should not go eat at McDonalds nor at Starbucks or any of these franchises that are supporting the Zionists," Rasha Moghnieh, 21, replied when asked why she didn't cross the picket line to join her friends inside the restaurant.

you know that show that comes on lbc ... mission fashion 08 ... well i was flipping through the channels the other other day and it was on ... no i'm not about to start bashing it as an evil attempt at socially engineering the arab youth ... although ... but anyway ... here's what i wanted to say ... one of the girls is called diana ... when i saw her i was like i've seen this girl before ... she went to AUB with me ... so i grabbed the AUB yearbook but i couldn't find her because i didn't know her last name so it was hard for me to search ... so today i opened the lbc website and went to the show's page where they have profiles of all the models ... so i got her last name ... abdelaziz ... and it even said that she was a business major ... which only made my suspicions stronger ... because i am a business major myself ... so i went back to the yearbook and checked ... this time armed with a full name AND a faculty ... and sure enough i found her in there ... so anyway ... it's not the first time ... i remember back when i was still attending AUB one of the students participated in the miss lebanon thing ... she didn't win though ... the point is ... lot of hot girls at that university ...

True Story

i was reading the papers when i came across a name i recognized ...

when i was in AUB i took a painting course and this lady was the instructor ... she failed me because i used to miss class ... we used to call her the witch ... cuz she always wore this black paper mache dress that was very similar to a witch halloween costume ... plus she had this fiery orange hair ...
i used to see her all the time around hamra ... she would be walking her dog ... i think it was a german shepherd or something ... i can't remember ...
i also remember how she used to always chastise this one girl in our class because she wore heels and the sound they made whenever she would walk around annoyed her ... so finally the girl started wearing slippers to class and then once class was over she would change back into her heels ... i can't remember that girl's name but i remember her being really hot ...

anyway i ended up repeating the course with someone else - who was much nicer and coincidentally NOT a witch - and i passed ... something in the seventies ...
