not posting much this week .. last week i was much more prolific ..
oh well .. my parents were in amman last week .. they came back on thursday .. maybe that has something to do with it .. my two brothers who live outside "the kingdom" were here for the weekend .. one left yesterday and the other one left today ..
what else .. i bought new shoes yesterday .. these ..
i also bought a bunch of dvd's .. seven to be exact .. i saw one last night .. it's called "the number 23" .. it's a jim carrey movie .. much like eternal sunshine of the spotless mind it is very tripped out .. psychotic even .. it's decent i guess .. nothing amazing but decent .. a lot of twists .. i didn't predict the ending at all .. but anyway .. the movie is about the number 23 .. it's a curse .. where the number 23 takes over your life .. you start seeing it everywhere .. it controls you .. it becomes an obsession .. just watch the movie you'll understand .. now interestingly enough .. i was born on the 23rd .. of november .. that means my birthday is 11/23 .. 1*1*23=23 .. also .. i was born in the year 1983 .. [(9*8)/3]-1=23 .. in ksa license plates are made up of three letters and three digits .. well one of our cars has the digits 869 .. 8+6+9=23 .. plus i'm 23 years old .. woooo spooky .. i've got the curse .. right now you're probably thinking what the hell is he talking about .. just watch the movie ..
i don't feel like watching a movie today .. i'm too tired ..
i had a fender bender the other day in the parking lot .. i was backing up and this guy crept up on me and i t-boned his car .. but it was very minor .. nothing happened .. a little paint damage .. nothing serious .. so that was my first accident ..
speaking of cars .. i still didn't buy one .. but i set a deadline for myself .. before new year's ..
i got my hair cut today .. second time i go for the buzz .. or as some call it .. the prison look .. i also shaved and i trimmed my goatee .. i'm looking very clean .. my brother told me i look younger even ..
i got a book from the library today .. it's called the baron in the trees by italo calvino .. i never heard of him before but the description on the back of the book sounded interesting .. i will share it with you ..
Set in the eighteenth century, it tells the story of Cosimo, a young Italian nobleman who rebels against parental authority by climbing into the trees and remaining there for the rest of his life. He adapts efficiently to an arboreal existence - hunts, saws, crops, plays games with earthbound friends, fights forest fires, solves engineering problems, and even manages to have love affairs. He also has time to read and think. His proposal for "an Ideal State in the Trees" is acknowledged by Diderot, and Napoleon pays him homage.
From his perch in the trees, Cosimo sees the age of Voltaire pass by and a new century dawn. His ending is as graceful and unusual as his life has been.
what do you think .. interesting no .. i like books with themes about rebellion .. i took a course in university that was called "Youth and Rebellion" .. all we did was read books with rebellion themes .. like ibsen's doll house .. kafka's metamorphosis .. dostoevsky's crime and punishment .. camus' the stranger .. i remember because i still have the books ..
it's been a while since i read something .. i think the last one was city of truth .. that was a fucking good book ..
this dude called me today at work .. he works at bayt.com .. that's a recruitment company .. boring right .. but here's the thing .. i actually know him .. we went to AUB together .. his younger brother was in AUB as well .. and i was really good friends with his younger brother .. so that was pretty cool ..
