the arab protests

they started out very romantic ... the immortalization of bouazizi ... the dictator fleeing the country ... the hungry oppressed masses overthrowing the power mafia ... it was the stuff of fairy tales ... egypt was not much different ... the savage thugs attacking the peaceful protesters and failing to strike fear into their hearts ... the protesters and the national army coming as one ... christians watching over muslims while they pray ... more fairy tale stuff ... but then bahrain happened ... and libya happened ... and suddenly things aren't so romantic anymore ... and now hillary is walking around in tahrir square ... and foreign airstrikes are now only a matter of hours away in libya ... and suddenly ... things aren't so romantic anymore ... by the way ... have we learned nothing ... every time we enlist the help of a foreign power to help us we regret it ... why are people celebrating the security council decision ... i have to say ... i'm starting to see some clouds in the skies of freedom ...

Yes it's been tarnished by sectarianism and bigotry, alongside the monstrosity of the Libyan system.

its not only that .. things are starting to spiral out of control .. revolutions are not an instant recipe for freedom and prosperity .. i believe things will get much worse before they get better ..
