live from jeddah

hello everyone ... as you might have noticed i have been gone for a while ... and as you might have guessed it's because i was busy moving ... i am now in jeddah ... writing this from my new apartment ... i have not unpacked anything yet ... just got here last night ... i promise i will write a better post later but this will have to do for now ... i leave you with a song i heard on the way over here yesterday ...

the packing begins

two weeks

the eid holiday is over and it was back to work today ... the move to jeddah - or as i like to call it the moment of truth - is now two weeks away ... well technically the trip to jeddah is two weeks away ... the move will come after ... can't move unless you have a new address ... and i don't have that yet ... so i will be going to jeddah in two weeks inshala to search for an apartment ... once i find one i will come back to riyadh and finalize everything ... that is ship my stuff, my car, hand over the key to my apartment, etc ... then it's so long riyadh ... don't imagine it will be too hard saying goodbye ...
i have started preparing for the move ... i got a ton of boxes ... those weren't hard to procure ... just took them from our warehouse ... haven't started packing though ... the plan is to do that next week ... i imagine it won't take that long ... two days at most ... i still need to find a moving company ... that shouldn't be too hard ...

my whole life i dreamed of getting inside ... but i wasn't allowed to ... my name wasn't on the guest list ... then someone whose name was on the guest list invited me along ... i was so happy ... but when i got inside i was disappointed ... it was just a big empty room ... so i left ... not sure why i am dying to go back inside again ...

i was taking out the trash yesterday ... and as i crossed the street to reach the dumpster ... i noticed that "little cat" was lying there ... he had been run over by a car ... it was pretty gross ... rest in peace little guy ...

which is the number of weeks i have left in riyadh ... meanwhile ... here is a list of things that have to do with the number four ...

big cat little cat

there is this cat who lives in my building .. and there is this smaller cat who follows him around .. i guess it's his son .. or daughter .. i don't know .. i like to give them milk .. i cut a plastic cup in half and use that as a bowl .. however it's not big enough for both of them to drink out of at the same time .. so they have to learn to share .. it's funny because they both want to drink but only one can do so at a time .. so they take turns .. here is a video of them doing just that .. as you can see the big guy drinks .. the little guy watches him and tries to get in but to no avail .. then when the big guy decides to take a break the little guy moves in .. then when the big guy decides it's his turn again he just sort of headbutts the little guy out of the way .. this video was made at around 1:30 am .. i had just gotten home from work and there they were waiting for me at my doorstep .. yes i got home from work at 1:30 am .. we are working two shifts in ramadan and let me tell you it is hell .. you can kind of hear the salat il-qiyam in the background ..
