meanwhile in beirut
read a sad story about a domestic worker committing suicide in lebanon ... not an uncommon thing over there apparently ... it happened in sanaye3 ... that was close to where i used to live ... there was a park ... anyway ... this is just another reason why arabs suck right now ... we treat our domestic workers like slaves ... remember those commercials that used to come on tv ... about treating your domestic workers like human beings ... they used to break my heart ... they stopped showing them though ...

Is that true about people locking their help in during the war? I find it hard to believe!
I hate that I know of such cases of abuse and there is not a damn thing I can do about it!! Seriously what can I do?? Pay the poor thing her due rent and sent her home already?? "she's been serving for more than 3 years under inhumane conditions without pay and without any contact with her family..she has a young boy whom she wants to send to school..ufff it kills me thinking about her!
considering the source of the info i would say yes its true .. also al-akhbar regularly carries stories about maid abuse so theres nothing hard to believe .. sad but true ..
can i ask if u have a maid?

My maid experience proved to me that the whole maid thing cannot work. I got one when we first moved here and she was excellent but she ran away! So I got another one who was also ok..but you know the whole situation was not ok. Having a stranger in the house at ALL times being responsible for her and at the same time recognizing that she's an employee who just works for me!! So anyways a year after she came I decided to let her go.
Now I don't have a maid..so when I'm not online you can assume that I'm scrubbing a bathtub or something of that sort :'(
ya im not comfortable around maids either .. u could get someone to come clean once a month or week or whateve .. could be a friends maid .. or a cleaning service ..
Who cleans your place btw?
mostly me .. but every once in a blue moon ill hire a guy to come do real cleaning ..
