ya zalameh you're working ! logistics right ? I wish i can get a job in that path, given my degree it seems so hard . ok just in case it happened, its a bit better with sister now in Madinah right ?is it too far ? can i like go have dinner n get back to Riyad ?

Jundi said...

why do u wish to work in logistics and whats ur degree?

and no u cant go and have dinner and come back lol .. if it was dammam u might be able to pull it off but not madina .. im not sure exactly how much is the distance but theres almost 1000 km between riyad and madina give or take .. so thats 2000 km to go and come back .. cant be done ..

cuz logistics is a dynamic environment ,needs multi tasking, communicating with third parties, planning, following up on stuff and with people, all that is what I enjoy doing ,I know it can be so static and all following documented procedures n stuff but u gotta start somewhere .problem is on all those recruiting websites they call for ppl with IE degrees for a position in logistics , and I have a Bsc in Actuarial Science !

wow u make it sound so glamorous lol .. well i work at a giant 40k sq m warehouse that provides logistics services to outside companies .. and let me tell u its boring .. as you may or may not know logistics is a military science and as a result its very rigid and dull ..

based on what u described u might want to work in sales ..

NasEr said...

yea I could do sales I like that too , but from my understanding -correct me if I'm wrong- warehousing is a part of logistics work,I understand the idea about it,methods n stuff, but I thought there's another branch or level or complimentary part of actual planning and coming up and implementing a system so it can be carried on in the warehouse right ?no ? I'm mean what's the next level in your career (the natural advancing I'm not talkin about u specifically if u have a problem with that)?

ya but what ur talking about is when u are working at a manufacturing firm .. but i work at a service firm so we just do what the client wants we dont do much planning .. they plan and tell us what to do .. now im actually a marketing major i just sort of fell into this logistics world .. my first job ever was with aramex they recruited me as an account executive for a logistics project they had with a telecommunications company .. so i became involved in the operations and stuff .. then i quit that .. then i got recruited by agility to work as an internal auditor .. so now thank god i dont have to deal with pain in the neck clients i am just the quality guy which is so much better than operations .. my next step nshala is to go work for a manufacturer like mara3i or savola or whatever .. but that step comes in a couple of years or so after ive gotten enough experience here ..
