Oops

Sergei Pavlenko has painted King Abdullah II in his dress uniform as Colonel in Chief, The Light Dragoons.
To the left of the painting of the Muslim King is a portrait by John Wonnacott, which as its title, Reclining Nudes: Watching The Beautiful Woman, suggests, leaves little to the imagination.

"I see no reason why an unelected king should be deferred and pandered to any more than a greengrocer or a bus driver would be just because he happens to be a monarch.

Having said that, I don't think there is anything inherently disrespectful to either a greengrocer or a king in hanging their portraits alongside the painting of a naked woman.

I think it's time for everyone who thinks like the writer of this piece to grow up and cease treating nudity like an inherently embarrassing aberration.

They ought also to try to rid themselves of the servile mentality of a feudal underling whose instinct is to grovel before individuals who are conventionally deemed to occupy a higher social position or rank."

He spoke my mind.
