A prominent Zionist rabbi ruled this week that according to the Halacha, a non-Jew cannot serve as a Knesset member in the State of Israel, even if the public agrees to it.
"This is irrelevant," said Rabbi Shlomo Aviner, "This is a Jewish state and Jews are the ones leading the Jewish state."

So a member of the parliment has to be jewish, that hardley seems right for a suppousedly democratic state (the irony to the politics of an opressive state)
well according to this rabbi dude he should be a jew .. but the reality is that arabs are able to get elected to the knesset .. of course with the rise of people like lieberman it's only a matter of time before that becomes illegal .. and if u dont who that is go wiki avigdor lieberman hehe
