A Jordanian Foreign Ministry official says the country's ambassador has returned to Israel after an absence of several weeks that was widely interpreted as a protest over Israel's offensive in Gaza. The official spoke on condition of anonymity on Tuesday because of the sensitivity of the issue.

The Israeli government have expelled the Venezuelan Embesy staff in Tel Aviv and severed diplomatic relations with the country. The Israeli government says that this move comes in response to the Venezuelan Hugo Chavez decision to expel the Israeli Ambassador to Caracas earlier this month.
