i watched a few movies over the weekend ... here they are in random order ...
the first one was the aristocrats ... it's not really a movie ... it's more of a documentary ... it's about a joke called the aristocrats ... basically it's an inside joke between comedians ... and it goes a little something like ... a man walks into a talent agency and says have i got an act for you ... so the agent says ok shoot ... and the man says well it's me, my wife, our two kids, and our dog ... then he begins to describe the act ... now the act is completely arbitrary ... that is you're supposed to make it up yourself ... but it has to be as vile and crude and repulsive as you can make it ... it usually contains incest, urine, feces, and all kinds of despicable acts ... in the end the agent asks the man what do you call yourself ... and he says the aristocrats ... and that's the joke ... i didn't like the movie that much ... i thought they spent too much time analyzing it and talking about its history ... and less time on actually telling it ... but the movie features so many comedians ... jon stewart, bob saget, eddie izzard, sarah silverman, drew carey, robin williams, and the list goes on ... and occasionally one of them will tell his own version of the joke ... but like i said ... too much talk and not enough joke-telling ... so yeah i don't really recommend it ... it's pretty boring ... although it would be interesting if someone could count how many times the word fuck is mentioned in the film ...
second movie was high fidelity ... i had read the book that the movie is based on and loved it so that was my motivation for wanting to see it ... the movie is ok but it's not that great ... it stars john cusack who i consider a good actor although i don't really like him ... jack black is pretty funny in it ... anyway read the book ... it's much much better ...
the last movie was talladega nights ... you've probably heard of it ... it's a will ferrell movie so obviously it's a comedy ... he plays a nascar driver who goes from zero to hero then back to zero and now wants to get back to being a hero again ... that's the simplest way i can describe the movie for you ... sacha baron cohen (the guy who plays borat) is also in the movie ... he plays a gay french F1 driver ... it's a very funny movie ... i recommend it for those looking for a nice comedy ... as a comedy i give it a 9/10 ... but as a movie in general i give it a 7/10 ...
