i watched the movie swing vote today ... yeah the elections are over but whatever ... so as you might have guessed from the title it's a political movie ... kevin costner plays a "joe the plumber" character ... small-town, blue collar, etc ... he's a single dad with a daughter ... and his daughter wants him to vote so she registers him ... but when he fails to show up at the polling station she votes for him ... but something happens and the vote isn't counted ... and the election turns out to be a tie ... and kevin's vote will decide who wins the election ... the candidates are played by kelsey grammer (the incumbent republican) and dennis hopper (the challenging democrat) ... and so a political circus and media blitz ensue and bla bla ... it really sounds like an interesting movie doesn't it ... but it's not ... it's actually very boring ... they do a good job of mocking the whole election frenzy and how it's more marketing ploys than actual politics but still ... oh and the ending is terrible ... i guess it was just a way for whoever made the movie to tell people every vote counts so get out and vote ... which is a good message ...
so good message, bad movie ... 4/10 ...
