i started reading a new book today ... it's called high fidelity by nick hornby ... it's absolutely brilliant and i'm loving it so far ... right now i'm at pg 49 ... the book is 321 pages long ... which means i still have ... uh .......... you do the math ...
anyway ... i couldn't wait to finish the book before blogging about it ... there are so many clever passages i would have liked to share with you ... but i ended up choosing just one ...
People worry about kids playing with guns, and teenagers watching violent videos; we are scared that some sort of culture of violence will take them over. Nobody worries about kids listening to thousands - literally thousands - of songs about broken hearts and rejection and pain and misery and loss. The unhappiest people I know, romantically speaking, are the ones who like pop music the most; and I don't know whether pop music has caused this unhappiness, but I do know that they've been listening to the sad songs longer than they've been living the unhappy lives.

Oh what BULL!! Pop songs do not cause unhappiness. Besides, unhappiness is not dangerous..violence is!!And don't use that "unhappiness may cause one to be violent" arguement, I'm not buying :P
i should probably mention its a fiction book .. this passage was just the main character offering a personal opinion.
back to the topic ..
well songs CAN cause unhappiness .. i mean ive cried because of a song before :o
and who said unhappiness is not dangerous .. depression can be very dangerous.
No they can't!! They just help you punctuate your already existing feeling of unhappiness :p
I have cried to songs many times, they did not make me cry, only helped me to, which is a good thing actually ;)
ok so they can augment ur feelings of unhappiness .. i mean i guess it goes without saying that u have to be in the mood for the song.
what songs have u cried to if i may ask :O
Oh different times different songs. I have cried to Fairuz songs many times..even now when I'm in an ok mood I cannot listen to zahratal mada2en without shedding some tears :S hmmm kaman there's allah ma3ak ya hawana..it's very damar and i can't but cry when I hear it. Hafez can move into tears..not always tho. Oh there is one song by hani l 3omari..Sehran, it's an old one but it has memories.. I sometimes cry to mere sad music, for no reason at all!! But again I'm the kind of person who cries easily. It only takes someone to cry before me..even a stranger..and I can't stop my tears!!
How about you?? what songs touch your heart??
hmmm im sure there are many but i cant think of any right now .. the only one that comes to mind is 'how do i' by leann rhimes
