None Taken

often times, when we are about to say something that might be construed as offensive .. we tend to preface our remark with the phrase "no offense" ... as a way of softening the blow so to speak ... but it's not always an effective tool ... sometimes it's better to not say anything at all ... allow me to demonstrate ...

it's ok if you said ...
dude, no offense but that suit is fucking ugly.

however, it's not ok if you said ...
dude, no offense but your girlfriend is fucking ugly.

lol oh reaaaaaalllyyyyyy??

This "no offense" remark translates to; my opinion is not in your favor but I am going to say it anyways, tho not with the intention of hurting your feelings! If an honest opinion is not absolutely necessary then an offense will surely be taken. Really why does anyone need to tell someone that his girlfriend is ugly??

Yeah i know she might be ugly, altho I don't think that any person could look absolutely ugly once you get to know them, but why do you HAVE to tell?? I think that's mean :p

I agree with Pru, that is just mean. Sometimes it is better to just keep quiet and look the other way :)
