i can always tell when it is is a western holiday .. specifically on my way home from work .. more specifically when i reach the gate to the compound i live in .. first there is the longer-than-usual line of cars .. that is my first cue .. then there are the tightened security measures .. once you reach the gate .. the security guard will ask you for your ID .. usually having a "sticker" on your windshield is sufficient for them to wave you through .. but not on western holidays .. no no .. you must show your ID .. you must also pop your trunk .. the funny thing is i usually have no idea what day it is .. i would be driving home oblivious to everything .. then i reach the gate and i think hmmm .. and then i realize what day it is ..
such was the case today ..
