AUB

AUB is going to have smoke-free areas .. an announcement on its website states that several areas on campus have been designated smoke-free as of 2008 .. previously the only rule was you couldn't smoke inside AUB buildings .. anywhere else was fine .. what happens if you get caught smoking in one of the smoke-free areas is not clear ..

among the areas designated as smoke-free are jafet plaza and the college hall breezeway .. if you don't know AUB then obviously you have no idea what these places are .. but let me tell you .. a lot of smoking goes on there .. to think how many cigarettes i've smoked in those areas .. especially jafet plaza .. sitting on those steps facing the library and smoking away .. not on the list of smoke-free areas - the oval and main gate and west hall .. these are also very popular parts of campus ..

but the announcement does go on to say that "The University intends to expand gradually “smoke free” areas on campus, including in student dormitories" .. so i guess it's only a matter of time before the ban reaches those areas .. i'm glad i graduated before any of this funny business started ..
