World Cup Fever

I'm going to start my blog with a post about the world cup ... how original.

Everyone is fixated on the world cup these days. In Beirut, world cup fever is in full effect. Everywhere you turn you see a flag ... on cars, shops, balconies, etc.
I'm rooting for Holland. I've been a fan of them my whole life. I used to like them because they had this one player called Ruud Gollit (if he sounds familiar it's because he managed Chelsea for a while). There was a giant poster of him inside this Lotto shoe store we used to go to when I was a little kid. His hair looked cool and I liked the black and red colors of his AC Milan jersey. And that was how it all started. They had some other good players like Van Basten and Reikard and Koeman. I remember when they faced Egypt in the 1990 world cup my mom got mad at me for wanting Holland to win. According to her, I should've been cheering for the Arab side.
Anyway, we didn't make it to the last world cup so I'm happy with the way things are going so far. We're going to play Argentina on Wednesday!!!
