Quote of the Day
"We are happy we came here, full of joy, full of life. We hope that we can be free and can enjoy the same freedom these kites enjoy in the air. All we are looking for is to grow up like normal children."11-year-old Marwan Mohammad
In UN-sponsored event, some 6,000 Palestinian children released kites on Gaza's beach in attempt to break Guinness Book record for most kites flown simultaneously. Guinness was unable to send a judge to the attempt due to travel restrictions into Gaza. But the children would be able to break the record even without a judge by verifying the accomplishment in other ways, said Guinness spokeswoman Karolina Thelin.

slice of life
there are these things called boofiyya ... a boofiyya is like a sandwich store more or less ... they make chicken burgers ... hamburgers ... jibneh sandwiches ... mrabba sandwiches ... egg sandwiches ... tea ... soda ... coffee ... stuff like that ... you know cheap and fast ... they are everywhere ... anyway i stopped by one today to get some breakfast ... couple of jibneh sandwiches ... so they had a menu of what they sell taped onto the counter ... which brings me to the point of this story ... here's how they wrote nescafe ... نس كفى ... i probably should've taken a picture ... it would've been funnier and saved me the trouble of writing this gibberish ...

this is one of the lamest promotion ideas i have ever seen in my life ... if i were ceo i would fire the creative team who came up with the idea ... then i would fire the marketing manager who approved it ...

King Mo
Most royals may have to be a bit thriftier this year as fortunes plummet, but it's not so for the King of Morocco, Mohammed VI, whose 12 palaces reportedly cost $1 million a day to operate. His net worth is up $1 billion this year to $2.5 billion, making him the only one of the world's 15 richest royals to have added to his fortune in the past year.

a day in the life of a palestinian
"Shut up or I will f*** you," a Christian Peacemaker Team observer quoted an Israeli soldier yelling at the mother of a boy bound in military custody near Hebron on Monday.
CPT observers near the Tel Rumeida area of Hebron detailed an attack on an unarmed 16-year-old boy that also saw his mother threatened and death threats launched at his father, who attempted to file a police report against the actions. The boy volunteers for the Israeli human rights group B'Tselem as a cameraman and has undertaken nonviolence training.
"At 4:30pm on Monday 13 July two Israeli soldiers attacked a 16-year-old Palestinian boy 150 yards from his home," the CPT report said. "The attack happened as the boy was walking to his home carrying heavy electrical cables necessary for repair work on his family’s house. Two workers who were with him left to raise the alarm."
According to CPT the boy had been harassed several times by Israeli soldiers. When his mother and cousin arrived on the scene to defend the boy, soldiers threatened his mother with sexual acts. They were convinced to take the boy to his home, and were met there by a small group of settlers, who live illegally in the West Bank city.
"The soldiers cuffed the boy’s hands behind his back, blindfolded him and again forced him to sit" behind the house where settlers were glaring down from adjacent rooftops, the report said. "One or more people kicked and hit him again, but because of the blindfold he could not see whether his attackers were soldiers or settlers."
The boy's father and friends arrived at the home, having been alerted by his mother, and began filming the incident. "The officer observed that Palestinians were filming the incident and removed the blindfold and handcuffs and released the boy. He gripped the boy by the jaw and warned him, ‘If you say anything to internationals or the police, I will kill you,'" the report said.
That evening the boy received hospital treatment for his injuries, and the following day his father spent four and a half hours at the police station making a complaint, in support of which he passed over video of the incident, CPT said.

nawaling
i usually listen to my ipod in the car ... but sometimes i take it out because it needs charging ... and i'll forget to unplug it the next morning ... so i'll get in the car to go to work ... and realize the ipod is not there ... and i'll be like fuck i forgot it ... oh well ... i'm already running late and i don't want to turn off the car and go back to my apartment just to get it ... whatever i'll just listen to the radio ... well it happened today ... so radio it is ... i listened to mbc fm ... they have this host called khadeeja who has a lovely voice by the way ... she actually sounds hot ... anyway ... not the point ... here is the point ... there's this new song by nawal il zughbi ... apparently it's a big hit ... because i had the misfortune of hearing it on the way to work and on the way back home ... so i'm guessing the frequent play means the song is a hit ... anyway ... i'm not a fan of nawal under normal circumstances ... her voice has a certain nasal quality which i don't appreciate ... but here's the thing ... it's supposed to be a khaleeji song ... and she absolutely butchers the accent ... nawal ... saying gal instead of 2al does not make it a khaleeji song ... good lord it's awful ... do us all a favor ... stick to your mother accent ... how that song became a hit i'll never know ...

today marks the third anniversary of the 2006 july war on lebanon ... i was in beirut when it happened ... it was the summer ... my last semester of university had just barely started ... i remember how i found out about the war ... i was at university ... in the library ... the person next to me was reading about the hezbollah operation ... i quickly opened a news site in my browser and read about it ... i was happy that the operation was successful ... that night the news started coming in about israel bombing the airport and what not ... the next morning classes were canceled indefinitely ... about a month later it was all over and hezbollah was victorious ... university resumed and about a month or two after that i graduated ... i think i was the only international student who didn't leave and i don't regret it ... at least all the ones i know left and came back only after it was all over ... but i was not alone ... i had friends who would come over almost everyday ... good times ...
get it?
him: are you seeing anyone

Facebrag
To use Facebook as a platform to brag. Normally about a job, internship, trip, purchase or anything else that nobody really needs to know but you'd like to tell everyone because you're awesome.
Sample Facebook Status: Jane Stephens is headed to London with her new iPhone for her 2nd JOB INTERVIEW!!!!! :))))
