In this image made available by NASA, The Hubble Space Telescope catches the 'last hurrah' of a dying star that is much like Earth's sun and is a preview of what scientists think will happen to the sun in about 5 billion years. The star, NGC 2440, is about 4,000 light years away from Earth, and is shedding outer layers of gas, which glow with the star's ultraviolet light. What's left is a burned-out white dwarf (the white dot in the center) where the surface temperature is more than 360,000 degrees Fahrenheit (200,000 degrees Celsius).
