yesterday was il 3eed il wa6ani ... the saudi equivalent of the fourth of july ... it is a national holiday ... the night before that i made plans to see my friend ... and he had the genius idea of me picking him up from the office instead of his house ... he works in kingdom tower ... which is in olaya district ... which is like the hub of riyadh ... it's a very very busy place ...so it's the night before a holiday which means no work tomorrow ... and it's ramadan where everyone likes to go out at night anyway ... so apparently everyone who lives in riyadh decided to go out that night ... now usually it would take me around 15-20 minutes to get to kingdom tower from where i live ... give or take ... but that night ... it took me nearly an hour and a half ... i remember spending almost 20 minutes at one traffic light because two guys had an accident and were waiting for the police to arrive ... meanwhile their parked cars were blocking two lanes ...
i can only imagine what traffic is going to be like during eid ... thankfully i won't be here though ...

Well you have no idea how it is here after hurricane Ike, they are still working on some stoplights and power poles. Ahhh I miss normalcy :(
