if you don't know family guy or have heard of it but don't watch it ... you might want to skip this post ...

so you know in the intro to family guy they have the theme song right ... lois is singing on the piano ...

it seems today that all you see

is violence in movies and sex on tv

then peter appears and joins in ...

but where are those good old fashioned values on which we used to rely

then the screen turns into like a broadway setting and the whole family is singing and dancing ...

ok ... now we get to the point of this post ... so then stewie says what sounds like ...

effing cry

that is what i always thought he says ... up until a few days ago when i discovered otherwise ... it turns out the actual lyrics are ...

laugh and cry

but get this ... it seems i'm not the only one who misheard it ... in fact, according to wikipedia ...

Because so many people thought Stewie sang "effin' cry!" instead of "laugh and cry" in the opening sequence (to the extent that UK broadcaster Channel 4 would edit the line so Stewie would only be heard saying "Cry", and some versions of subtitles stating "F-in' cry!"), Seth MacFarlane resang that line to make it clearly "laugh and cry". The rerecording first appeared at the beginning of "The Kiss Seen Around the World" and remained through the end of season three, but the original recording returned when the show resumed airing on Fox in 2005, and has remained since.
