No Mas

according to the latest news, the lebanese government has begun removing all political posters and banners and slogans and what not from the streets of beirut ... supposedly this will be a trial and if everything goes smoothly it will extend to the rest of lebanon ... this was actually agreed upon when they signed the doha accord but is only being implemented now ...
now i completely understand why they're doing this ... i totally get it ... still a part of me can't help but frown upon this move ... these pictures, banners, slogans are very much a part of beirut's personality ... it's hard to imagine it without them ... i mean it's not beirut if there isn't a photo of rafiq hariri smiling back at you every which way you look ...
then again ... what do i care ... not like i live there anymore ...

I think it is better for them to put politics aside, at least in the meantime. It has been part of Beirut for a long time, but it is not doing any good for anyone.

Unfortunately, we got deeply divided and took sides after May 08, so removing posters and banners won't make any difference but maybe it will cool things off a bit, the daily incidents of bombs and shootings are getting out of hands.
