Palestinians share their hopes on Laylat Al-Qadr ...
Um Imad Al-A’sfur, a grandmother, said that in her prayers on Monday she asked god to release her son Imad from the Israeli prison Ad-Damoun, where he is serving a life sentence for the murder of an Israeli. She said that she “hopes to see Imad kissing his two children as I sit beside him.”
Mansour Al-Atyani asked god for work after four years of unemployment. “I graduated from An-Najah University in 2004, and since then I have applied to tens of jobs all over the West Bank, but I have not been lucky and I have remained unemployed.”
Abd Al-Qader Na’eem said that he asked god to “release all of the Palestinian prisoners in the Israeli jails,” and added that he is haunted by the images of families embracing their loved ones as the return home after long terms of imprisonment after the Hizbullah-Israel swap. “I can only imagine what it is like to hold your son after long years of prison,” he said.
Abu Mohammad who is 60-years-old said that he asked god to reunify the Palestinians in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip and to guide them to return to the dialogue table united in front of one enemy. He added that he “called on god to help the leaders of Fatah and Hamas open the doors for young leaders to step in and help end the division as soon as possible.”
Sana, a young woman said that she asked god to “improve the economic situation so that life will return as it was before the Intifada,” so that her life could be one of hard work and dignity.
