today i met a saudi man who speaks fluent filipino ... and no he is not half filipino ... it was quite a surreal experience ...

youth in revolt

not half bad ... sort of a romantic comedy ... though more comedy than romance i guess ... michael cera is a teenage loser who falls in love with a girl next door ... and more than anything else he wants to lose his virginity to her ... doesn't sound very romantic but it's actually pretty sweet ... cera is great in the movie ... he constructs an alter-ego for himself named francois which is just hilarious ... the girl who plays his love interest is equally brilliant ... though i never heard of her before ... anyway i was not disappointed at all in the movie ... watch it if you get the chance ... 8/10 ...

england and usa just kicked off ... i am watching it ... trying to decide who i hate less ... in other words who do i want to lose the match ... england or usa ... on the one hand there is the whole mandate era and the balfour declaration ... on the other hand there is the blind support for israel and the iraq occupation ... the list goes on obviously but those two stand out the most ... come to think of it england was also a part of the iraq occupation ... but it's still primarily an american affair ... england just scored btw ... gerrard ... back to the subject ... who do i hate more ... i honestly can't decide ... i guess the only acceptable outcome is a tie ... that way neither team wins ... and while we are on the subject of england vs usa ... check this out ...
in other sporting news ... game 5 of the nba finals is tomorrow ... it's 2-2 now ... it's gonna be a big game ... but they are so late ... 4 am ... i have not been able to watch a single finals game ... i set my alarm for game 4 last time but i ended up blowing it off ... i woke up ... turned the alarm off and went back to sleep ... i'm going to try it again though ... set my alarm that is ... if i wake up great ... if not whatever ... at least i tried ...

update: they tied indeed ... thank you God ...

sleeping at the movies

i have a very good friend here in riyadh ... luay is his name ... we have been good friends since university ... we go out every wednesday and do the same thing ... we go to a nice restaurant ... have dinner ... then go back to my apartment and watch a movie ... it's always my apartment because he lives with his parents ... although next week we said we would go bowling ... just to change things up ... but i digress ... so since i started the new job i always fall asleep during the movie ... i am just too tired ... the last three movies we watched ... the blind side ... the crazies ... and how to train your dragon ... in that order ... i have fallen asleep ... i can't help it ... my eyes get heavy and i succumb ... anyway ... he said the blind side was good ... told me i had to watch it ... i still haven't ... the crazies he didn't like so much ... as for how to train your dragon he also fell asleep during the movie ... but i was able to watch enough to figure out the main idea ... i would recommend you read this book instead ...
